Rev. Cosme Fernandes was honored during the Thirty-Second friendship banquet of our Lady of the Divine Providence at Astoria-Manor on November 10. The event annually hosted by the New York Archdiocesan Office of Hispanic Ministry was attended by over 300 Puerto Rican people, including priests, sisters, and well-wishers of the awardees. Along with Father Cosme, Ms. Wanda Vasquez, Sr Marie Elizabeth Mooney and an exemplary couple Freddy and Tati Ferrer received special awards. The program highlight was presentations of Medals to the awardees, singing national anthems of the United States and Puerto Rico and a hymn for our Lady of Providencia, patroness of Puerto Rico.

The sessions of the fifth National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry were held at St Martin of Tours Chruch on May 12. The United States Conference of the Catholic Bishops invites all Catholic leaders to listen to the needs, challenges, and aspirations of the Hispanic/Latino communities. The V Encuentro process gathers missionary disciples in Encuentros at the parish, regional and diocesan levels. St Martin of Tours already has joined the process to let the Hispanic/Latino voices be heard at the National Encuentro.
